DESCRIPTION OF THE VILLA

Castellabate holiday villa rental – Standing proudly in the fragrant pine woodland so typical of the Cilento coast, Sirena di Castellabate is a stunning Italian seaside villa recently renovated to the highest standard. The classic, understated elegance of the interior décor has been tastefully enhanced by the use of local materials such as brightly-coloured floor tiles, mosaics and intricate wrought-iron bedsteads. Complementing this perfectly is the spectacular view over the Tyrrhenian sea and the little island of Licosa with its distinctive lighthouse. The terrace stretching the length of the villa provides an excellent and comfortable viewpoint from which to admire this panorama.

Part of a vast private domain belonging to a distinguished member of the Italian aristocracy, Sirena di Castellabate is surrounded by acres and acres of beautiful land encompassing varieties of Mediterranean trees and shrubs, and offers private access to the local beach with private sun deck, archaeological ruins dating back to Roman times and historical buildings such as the palace and its family chapel. This villa makes an ideal base for a relaxing and easy summer holiday thanks to its flat grounds, access to nearby sandy beaches and its proximity to some attractive local towns and villages, as well as to the Amalfi peninsula for longer days out.

Cilento is an area of outstanding natural beauty situated south of the Amalfi coast and the Gulf of Salerno. Perhaps less known, yet absolutely charming and unspoilt, the whole area boasts a rich heritage and culinary tradition. Take a stroll up the narrow cobbled alleyways of the picturesque hilltop village of Castellabate and enjoy the magnificent views over the sea, as well as a fresh seafood dish in one of the local trattorie. All around you, the Cilento National Park offers opportunities for trekking and exploring. Twenty miles north of the villa is the splendidly preserved Greek town of Paestum with its imposing Doric temples. You might like to charter a boat to take you to some of the pretty towns on the Amalfi coast such as Vietri and Amalfi, or even Capri. Head south and you will come to the well-known archaeological site of Velia and the Gulf of Palinuro with its fascinating caves and coloured rocks: a true paradise for scuba-divers and snorkellers alike.

INSIDER TIPS

Cape Licosa is a jewel among the historic properties of the Campania princes. Here, a short distance south of the small fishing harbour of San Marco di Castellabate and close to the point named for the Siren Leucosia, lie the ancient ruins of a Roman fort, a seaside castle and family chapel and, of course, Villa Sirena di Castellabate. You can head out of the villa in either direction and enjoy rural walks through the woods or along the sea shore through this privately-owned estate, as well as stunning views of the sea, the coastline, the private island and lighthouse.
