DESCRIPTION OF THE VILLA

Luxury spa period villa in Positano – Perched on the cliffs overlooking Positano, this lavishly furnished, sumptuous villa with exclusive private spa is a unique jewel in the Amalfi Coast thanks to its original Baroque style and unrivalled views across the Gulf of Salerno and its jagged coastline.

Antique pieces and richly painted ceilings reflect the eclectic taste of the owners of this former monastery, later used as an Episcopal residence, who have managed to create an opulent yet comfortable home. Villa Barocca’s setting is inspirational, with splendid panoramic views over Positano and the Tyrrhenian sea enjoyed from a wonderful outdoor living area on the large central terrace. The lower terrace provides a relaxing area where guests can soak up the sunshine then cool down in the outdoor Jacuzzi fountain. The spa and heated, indoor jet-stream pool offer the ultimate in wellbeing.

As you open the gate of this private villa you will find yourself strolling along the narrow streets of Positano, arguably one of the prettiest villages in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site. A fast and practical hydrofoil service operates throughout summer to connect all major towns along the Amalfi coast and further south, the Cilento coast.  A 40-minute hop on this service takes you across to the island of Capri where you can watch the sun set over the famous Faraglioni or visit the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) with its mesmerizing, colourful reflections: these are holiday memories to treasure for a lifetime.

Stunning views from a stunning villa right in the heart of Positano – what more could you want!  Leave your car behind and forget your busy daily life to enjoy a truly relaxing break. Enjoy the Hammam before dipping into the heated pool or jacuzzi, then sip pre-dinner cocktails on the terrace admiring the views, followed by a stroll through the narrow streets of Positano. You will come across quaint hand-painted pottery shops, bright-coloured clothing boutiques and fantastic restaurants serving typical seafood dishes. You must try out Paccheri ai frutti di mare and pomodorini (shellfish pasta with cherry tomatoes), tubetti with totani (short pasta with clams), zuppa di pesce (seafood soup), roasted mozzarella on lemon-tree leaves and, for dessert babà soaked in liqueur, torta caprese, marmalade crostata and a glass of Limoncello….pure bliss!

A door leads onto a garden terrace at the rear of the villa. Lower floor:
Indoor Spa comprising heated Jetstream 8m x 3m pool (depth: 1.20m to 1.94m) with waterfall feature, sauna, hammam, calidarium/frigidarium, relaxing room (TV).
3 x spa showers, WC.
Doors to large, walled terrace with outdoor Jacuzzi (4.25m x 1.10m, care with children).

An extra bed can be arranged at extra cost. Please ask in advance where you would like this bed placed so we can check there is space in your chosen room.

Grounds:
Fully terraced with shaded areas, mature trees, gazebo, portable charcoal barbecue, covered well, stunning sea views.
This villa is hidden behind walls with a large wooden door opening directly onto one of the many passageways through the village.  It is not possible to access the villa by car – this can only be done on foot through narrow lanes with approx. 190 steps in total.  A porter is available to help with luggage transfer on arrival and departure, but this villa is not recommended for toddlers in pushchairs or the infirm.

No smoking inside the villa please.
